The group of the high-density polyethylene pipe company Ciegoplast, in Ciego de Ávila, has several years of experience. Workers maintain stability in the production process; thanks to technological innovations and equipment, which already exceed 20 years of exploitation.

José Terry Gregorio, director of improvement and development at that entity, told the Cuban News Agency that, based on innovation, the paralyzed equipment was discharged and the machining capacity increased.

Among these inventions is the recovery of a lathe for machining large-diameter parts, such as thousand-millimeter flange holders. This allowed the fulfillment of the commitments of important works in the country and the substitution of imports. The cost of one, with similar characteristics in the international market, is 350 thousand dollars.

A bench was also adapted to the vertical drill, intended for the production of reduced tees. This work replaces the concave auger, facilitates the drilling of two reduced ones and eliminates the frequent breakage of auger blades.

In the same way, the rescue of the spindle of the Weber extruder camera stands out. This innovation consisted in the elimination of the oil leak from the line 2 gearbox, by adapting a seal of a different size and using a spring recovered from another discarded seal.
