The Local Development Project Specialized Technical Services (SERVTES) of the municipality of Morón, aims to modernize Cuban agriculture. To do this, they have developed an initiative that will automate the irrigation process in the fields, through a PLC Controller that interprets variables and from there executes actions.

Alberto Gómez Abreu, founder of SERVTES, reported that this system measures the existing temperature and humidity in the soil and in the environment and calculates the exact amount of water that the crop needs at each moment. The device also evaluates energy efficiency, since it measures the consumption parameters of the water pumps and adjusts them according to the equipment's own needs.

This initiative will also facilitate the work of those who work in the agricultural sector. "The machinery for the irrigation of the fields can measure between 300 and 400 meters, and the articulation of the fundamental movement begins from back to front, that is, the last section is the one that governs the operation of the machine, so to carry out any action the person must move that distance.

"However, with the PLC Controller, the equipment can be managed from the cell phone, and actions can be carried out in real time without being at the station, which greatly humanizes the farmer's work," Gómez Abreu said.

This Morón Local Development Project is distinguished by making technological equipment that represents a better option for Cuban entities, since thanks to its innovation they manage to reduce costs without affecting the functionalities of the devices. Among its premises, it is also, the recovery and maintenance of equipment of social institutions; hence, its actions have been essential to solve breakages such as those that occurred in the laundry services of different hospitals in the country and in the control systems for elevators of multi-family buildings.
