A meeting between the members of the Juan Almeida Bosque Patriotic Chair: example of a combatant, and several guests marked the beginning of the day of homage in Ciego de Ávila to the outstanding revolutionary, on the celebration of the 95th anniversary of his birthday on February 17.

Co-sponsored by the Provincial Directorate of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution (ACRC), the participants in the conference addressed aspects related to the rich career of the Commander of the Revolution, especially his total dedication to the construction of socialism in Cuba, among other vital contributions.

The Master in Sciences Cecilio Jiménez Marroquí, head of the Secretariat of Patriotic, Military and Internationalist Work, of the Ciego de Ávila`s ACRC, specified as main objectives of the Almeida in memory celebration (which will last until the next day 17), deepen in the life and work of the combatant, highlight his role in the national liberation struggle, and continue deepening the formation of values ​​in the new generations of Cubans.

In the afternoon, the director added that on the day 14th, a conference on the exemplary life of Commandant Almeida would take place at the provincial headquarters of the ACRC. He specified that both for this activity and for the rest of the organized ones, the measures established in correspondence with the hygienic-sanitary situation would be taken into account.

On the 17th, closing of the day, from 8:30 in the morning, the doors of the historic seat that perpetuates the memory of Almeida, located in the Provincial Directorate of the ACRC, will be open, in which small groups of students, workers and organizations of the capital city, as in previous years, will be able to lay flowers before the graphic image of Juan Almeida Bosque.

The program of activities also includes the awarding of the contest called by the ACRC on different topics related to the life and work of the legendary guerrilla, military leader and diplomat, founder of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, and prominent writer and musical composer.
