Ingresa Ciego de Ávila más de 136 millones de USD por concepto de exportaciones

The Department of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and International Cooperation of the Provincial Government developed its annual balance for 2021. National and provincial executives in this sphere concluded that, despite the incidence of COVID-19 and the tightening of the economic, commercial and of the United States against Cuba, the indicators show better results than in the year 2020.

At the meeting, it was reported that more than 136 million US dollars (USD) were received from exports. This is mainly due to the sale of raw materials, honey, tobacco and other goods from the D'Ceballos Export Pole, local development projects and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

However, several lines did not comply with their foreign sales plans. One of them was charcoal, from COMCÁVILA, the Forestry, Flora and Fauna and Integral Agricultural companies, whose marketing was limited due to the contraction of the market due to the incidence of COVID-19 and the low availability of containers of export entities and shipping companies.

Some food products that did not meet their commitments, such as fresh pineapple, mango puree, sweets in syrup and fresh avocado are added to the charcoal, for reasons associated with the availability of packaging and insufficient production levels.

Regarding foreign investment, it was announced that the province has seven businesses with foreign capital, of which four are joint ventures.

Likewise, there are 15 hotel management contracts in the territory in the same number of facilities in the northern cays of Ciego de Ávila.

Directors of this sphere in the territory focus their work on promoting links with non-state forms of management, since 29 of them have export contracts. The MIPYME Media Luna stands out there, a private entity that obtained income of more than 6 million pesos in Freely Convertible Currencies during 2021, through the commercialization in other countries of charcoal, nectar, juices and seasoned sauces.

By 2022, the Department of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and International Cooperation in Ciego de Ávila intends to consolidate relations with all economic actors to increase income from goods and services and reach the figure of 169 million American Dollars (USD).
