The Piña Colada Fusion Music Festival will return to its usual stages in Ciego de Ávila from April 1 to 4, reported in this city Arnaldo Rodríguez, president of the organizing committee of the event and leader of the Talismán group.

Rodríguez stressed that this edition will be face-to-face, after the pause imposed by the pandemic, but in a special way by complying with the necessary sanitary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

It is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Union of Young Communists, to all health personnel and other sectors that contribute to combating the deadly disease, the festival will carry out interventions in neighborhoods, communities and places of social interest in the capital city.

The presentations of invited artists and groups will take place mainly on closed stages such as the patios of Artex, the Rueda and Mulato Acelerao hotels and the headquarters of the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS), although there will also be concerts in the Máximo Gómez square, an open-air space free.

For the sixth time, the Music and Youth symposium will take place within the framework of the event, which will dedicate its panels, conferences and classes to the centenary of Cuban Radio, its role in the dissemination of music and in the formation of tastes in young people, with the participation of awardees in AHS scholarships, Arnaldo Rodríguez stressed.

He explained that the usual spaces for national concerts would also host groups from the catalog of the local company Musicavila, which will allow the presence of fusion and alternative music artists, without being closed to other musical genres. The festival, he stressed, promotes the profile of the event but around it a parallel party is developed that includes the programming of the house of culture and the participation of other genres, without distinction.

Among the initiatives of other sectors, there will also be a culinary festival of the Culinary Association of Ciego de Ávila, linked to pineapple and all the dishes derived from it.

It is the purpose of the Organizing Committee to promote the event internationally for future editions, in order to encourage the participation of foreign visitors, depending on the epidemiological conditions.
