Osmany Vicente Quintana, mayor of the Municipal Government of People's Power in Baraguá, highlighted that the approach to communities, systematized since October 2021, increases efficiency in serving the population and speeds up the solution to problems with housing, supply of water and the deterioration of the vials.
Inhabitants of 17 communities, seven of them in vulnerable conditions, benefit from actions promoted by the government and administrative departments to improve the quality of life in rural areas linked to food production.
In La Clementina community, this work dynamic allowed the legalization of more than 500 homes - out of 800 identified without documents - and speeding up the solution to minor construction problems, based on decisions adopted after dialogue with the population and the direct check-up of their difficulties.
Referring to the organization of the legalization procedures, he pointed out that a survey of all the cases was carried out and, subsequently, a work schedule was drawn up to carry out the procedures in that place, which allows progress to be made in a satisfactory manner.
Social workers belonging to the Municipal Directorate of Labor and Social Security diagnosed the main needs in these population settlements, from which they organized work systems to manage resources and satisfy them, he explained.
About 200 single mothers and elderly people who live alone or have very low pensions were benefited with eventual monetary benefits; in addition to the purchase of homes for women with three or more children, home renovations and delivery of supply cards.
Public policies ensure the incorporation of women into productive work by offering them employment opportunities and promoting the construction of children's homes for the care of their children, actions that materialize the National Program for the Advancement of Women in Cuba.
The mayor of Baraguá underlined that state-owned companies in the province (Integral agriculture, La Cuba and Arnaldo Ramírez, and Agro-industrial Ceballos) contribute to the progress of rural communities and the improvement of the quality of life of more than 800 families in conditions of vulnerability.
As part of its social obligation and by implementing the special development program, the Agricultural Company La Cuba will contribute to solving more than a hundred issues related to the poor condition of the roads, among the most recurrent in Baraguá.
The removal of dirt floors, housing rehabilitation and the construction of an aqueduct in El Frutero settlement, the latter with characteristics similar to the one recently opened in La Clementina and facilitating access to drinking water, are among the priorities.
They also include cleaning and setting tasks, the creation of spaces for healthy recreation and the revival of institutions that offer services to the people (schools, warehouses, medical offices and pharmacies), he said.
Vicente Quintana expressed that having one million 871 thousand pesos for interventions in communities during the current year materializes the purpose of transforming life in rural spaces, whose residents contribute to the implementation of the nation's economic and social development strategy.
Besides, five million pesos approved for repair and maintenance in entities, also destined for those communities, where it is also possible to transform spirituality and security and confidence in the management of the Party, Government and administrative directions are appreciated, he commented.
He recalled that companies such as La Cuba pay taxes on social consumption in the province and other regions of the country; therefore, it is especially important to encourage the permanence and movement of people to those areas to ensure the progress of agriculture and the production of other goods and essential services.
