Idilexy (La China) Morales Fajardo, owner of the small company El Pino Atrevido, dedicated to gastronomic activity, became the first representative of the non-state sector in the province of Ciego de Ávila to receive the Culinary Friendship Plaque, awarded by the Federation of Culinary Associations of the Republic of Cuba.
The delivery is endorsed by her outstanding participation in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic from the municipality of Morón, where she provided services, free of charge, in the kitchen of the isolation center located in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, to ensure the quality in food preparation.
It is also encouraged by donating raw and processed food to quarantined areas, homes for the elderly and mothers, the Psych-pedagogical Care Center and institutions for the isolation of suspected and positive patients for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Morales Fajardo has worked for more than 11 years at the head of El Pino Atrevido bar-restaurant, located in the municipality of Morón and promoter of traditional Cuban cuisine, as well as recreating international dishes.
For eight years, this gastronomic facility has been linked with the Gaviota Tur and Cubatur travel agencies in the Jardines del Rey tourist destination to offer lunches and dinners to tourists who participate in excursions to the interior of the province of Ciego de Ávila, managing to become an attractive offer to Canadians, Russians and Poles, fundamentally.
In an interview granted to the Ciego de Ávila Citizen Portal, La China stressed that the merit also belongs to her family and work team, whose contribution has been essential to achieve success.
El Pino Atrevido has maintained its operation during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, even in the months of greatest tensions for the municipality of Morón, managing to adapt its benefits to health provisions: reduction of capacities, home services and offers for carry. The epidemiological complexities have been an opportunity to demonstrate the commitment and social obligations of that entity.
