With the application of the Anti-COVID-19 vaccine to those allergic to Thiomersal, in its 10 municipalities, Ciego de Ávila consolidates the immunization process of its entire population against the SARS CoV-2 virus.

Yipsi González Borroto, head of the Immunization Program in the territory, explained to the press that in the province a total of 398,068 Ciego de Ávila`s citizens completed the scheme with the three indicated doses and 90 percent of them have also received the booster immunogenic drug.

Dr. José Ramón Artigas, specialist in Hygiene and Epidemiology in the territory, reiterated that when it comes to preventing serious forms of disease and death, the vaccine plays a fundamental role.

Referring to the incidence of confirmed cases, he explained that the figures of the last few days reaffirm the downward trend in infections; however, 238 outbreak controls remain open, of which 236 are community and two institutional.

The municipalities of Bolivia and Baraguá persist with the highest risk indicators in the territory.

The Hygiene and Epidemiology specialist also reported that, of 288 cases still active, 55 patients receive care in hospital institutions, while 220 remain isolated in their homes and 13 pending admission.

Provincial authorities insist on the importance of self-responsibility and compliance with protocols to avoid contagion with current viral strains.
