Outstanding workers recognized in Ciego de Ávila

Reconocen a trabajadores destacados en Ciego de Ávila

The festival of the world proletariat is approaching. Moreover, collectives and outstanding workers in union work, production, research, teaching and services, as part of the activities for the important day, are honored in Ciego de Ávila.

On this occasion, 26 workers received high decorations and awards, as well as three worker groups in the province, for their career and dedication in the different tasks that promote the socioeconomic development of the country.

For the only time, the commemorative plaque “Unidos los que Aman y Fundan”, instituted by the Worker Union in Cuba (CTC by its Spanish initials), on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Union of Young Communists, was given to a group of Ciego de Ávila`s citizens under 35 years old. Besides, the groups of the University of Ciego de Ávila Máximo Gómez Báez, the Jardines del Rey International Airport and the Provincial Prosecutor's Office received it.

The Lázaro Peña Third Degree Order was awarded to a worker from the Education, Science and Sports Union, while the Jesús Menéndez medal was conferred to workers belonging to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the sugar sector and one from the Union of Commerce, Gastronomy and Services.

Four members of the Health Union also deserved the Internationalist Worker medal, examples in bringing those acts of humanity of the Cuban Revolution to other peoples of the world.

Niurka Ferrer Castillo, general secretary of the Provincial Committee of the CTC, in the main words conveyed congratulations for the results and urged them to contribute with their knowledge in pursuit of the most important battle of these times: the economic one, with emphasis on food production.

The activity was also chaired by Liván Izquierdo Alonso, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba; Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, and Marcos Antonio Carballo de la Rosa, Deputy Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba.
