To put speed, without this undermining the quality of the works, and to be detailed in everything that is done for the people of Ciego de Ávila, Liván Izquierdo Alonso, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province and Governor Tomás Alexis Martín were called.

Both leaders, in one of their many tours, pointed out some deficiencies (characteristic of construction improvements still underway) and recognized the tremendous commitment of the many organizations and companies involved in revitalizing each space.

Unfortunately, termites, a kind of insect that damages the wooden structures, affect the dramatized theater of the Radio Surco Provincial Station. Its director, Dayamí Losada Benítez, added that the horcones of the house, the balusters, windows and doors were preserved, but the rest had to be changed, such as the floor and the wall boards. "There is a lack of work, but they should already be thinking about the link with the community, computerization, guided visits, exhibitions and making the property a tourist attraction as well," Izquierdo Alonso, who is aware of the importance of history for present and future generations, said.

Rekindling history is worth it

With the good news that on the eve of the July 26 celebrations, the Pedro Martínez Brito Birthplace Museum could be rehabilitated, Invasor investigates the state of a building of historical and cultural interest in Ciego de Ávila.

Another of the good news that is part of the efforts to rescue Ciego de Ávila`s cultural spaces from deterioration came with the repair of the Nicaraguan cinema by the Provincial Supply and Services Company for Education, another debt to the artists and the public, since the building, in addition to being the headquarters of the Concert Band, was thought for many years as the center of an ambitious cultural project that would stimulate the creation and concert melodies.

Osmany Costa Reyes, at the head of the Company, showed the progress with the change of the cover, the paintings, the lighting and the seats. A deeper connection with the social and work environment is part of the objectives of the project that the hosts of the place are up.

Along the way, the spectrum of actions continued to expand, because the Principal and the Iriondo also have their millions of pesos granted.That protecting cultural heritage is not an empty harangue, but rather translates into concrete actions on the ground, was the center of the debate held by the Provincial Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Ciego de Ávila, after a difficult year that has not allowed fully comply with its social mandate.

Something very important emphasized the leader, although it was the evil that led us to this point: "Continue repair and maintenance, so that later we do not have to invest more money."

The tour concluded with other large-scale works, which take place in the supported tank, in the southern area, with the purpose of resolving a breakage in two large-diameter valves at the outlet of the Repumping Station. More than 30,000 consumers were affected in recent days (in Vista Alegre, Maidique, Rivas Fraga, La Piñera and Canaleta). “Sunday is expected to be resolved, although the agility with which we have worked may help us get one day ahead of those forecasts.”

Wilmer Matos Lambert, general director of the Aqueduct and Sewerage Company in the territory, specified that these tasks required suspending the service to the population of the area and highlighted the commitment of the Cuito Cuanavale contingent, among others involved.

This 2021 provided hard days for the Ciego de Ávila Aqueduct and Sewer Company groups, who assumed works, investments and maintenance for the benefit of the population and the economy.
