Ediciones Ávila en la Feria del Libro

After two years without being able to enjoy the biggest book and literature festival in Cuba, the 2022 International Book Fair revived the joys for the authors and the public, who experienced the typical agitation of this event in the capital, official stop before embarking on his tour of all the provinces of the country.

 

With these good vibes, writers from the Ávila Editions catalog and others whose works have seen the light under various national publishing labels undertook the trip to Havana, an expeditious opportunity for the exchange and promotion of materials.

Included in this journey were Eduardo Pino, with the books Where the Birds Go and Alone Against the Night; Yasmani Rodríguez Alfaro, with In the Shadow of the Magician, Eliseo Diego Award 2019; Yamila Ferrá, with Words from the shipwreck; Dania Silvia Sorí, with Daniela's tales; and Lioneski Buquet, with Big Boys and Testament of Shadows.

The Eliseo Diego 2020 awards, in the Essay and Narrative categories, were also on the schedule. Thus, Eliseo Diego, record of permanence, by Daniel Céspedes Góngora was presented, at which time Josefina Diego, daughter of this illustrious author, participated; and Zoko and other imitations, by José León Díaz.

In addition, number one of the new era of the magazine Clairvoyance was promoted, as well as the copies the mystery of the crystal ball, by Belkis Reyes Soto (Loynaz Editions); and Leonel Daimel García Aguilar, Akokán, when the orichas were children (Loynaz Editions), A world for Fabio (Montecallado Editions), and Maricela and the Clown (La Luz Editions).

Other titles by local authors found space in the event, including Tina Modotti, much more than a naked body, by Reina de la Caridad Torres Pérez; and Between Cabbage and Colleagues, by Pastor Batista Valdés, both sponsored by the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Publishing House.

The recognition given to The Modern Poesy bookstore, from Morón, during the booksellers' event, for being the one with the best management in the country, was shared joy; endorsed, likewise, by the years of history that sustain this group, which long before being an Ateneo project, was already fulfilling plans and maintaining interesting cultural proposals on the billboard.

The presentations took place in the rooms: Dora Alonso, in the Morro-Cabaña complex; José Lezama Lima, at the College of San Geronimo; and Alejo Carpentier, from the Palace of the General Captains.

Despite the rush and the fact that not all spaces had the desired spectators, the Ciego de Ávila delegation took advantage of the event and, from now on, looks with a long light at May 19, the date on which our Fair of the Book.
