Plataforma de la UNICA permite validar títulos en línea

As simple as having a mobile device or computer capable of connecting to the national network, it is now possible to validate a copy of a university degree for graduates of the University of Ciego de Ávila Máximo Gómez Báez (UNICA). Since last January, it became enabled the UniLegal platform, which comes to simplify a procedure that, finally, sometimes ended up being a real headache for many.

As explained by the Ms.C. Duniesky Dorta Pina, head of the Software Development Department of the Informatization Directorate of UNICA, previously had already digitized all the records of the graduates and, from the joint work with the Secretariat of the institution, the new created tool eliminates the requirement of attendance for processing and shortens the time of a process that could previously take several days.

For its use, the site requires, at first, the registration of the interested party by entering data such as their name and surname, email and identity card number, the latter of great importance to guarantee the veracity of the information provided. “UniLegal has a first part in charge of verifying that the person is truly a graduate of the University of Ciego de Ávila, by searching the records; and another that confirms to third parties that this graduate is really who he says he is”, the specialist describes.

Once registered, the interested party will be able to upload a photocopy of the university degree to the platform, to which all the information recorded in the original is placed behind and compared with the document provided to verify its validity.

However, since this was a process that went beyond the Manual of Procedures of the Secretariat, and due to the need to ensure its transparency, it was necessary to analyze the ways to do it, in such a way that it was not possible to falsify documents or information on the site. Hence, as Dorta Pina refers, "for security, the application generates a barcode and a QR that, when scanned, refers to a page where the specific data of the user in question appears and which can be accessed by anyone to verify that this document is true.

With more than 400 registered users to date belonging to the provinces of Artemisa, Mayabeque and almost all of those in the eastern region, during these months those who have used the service have not reported any problems, according to the head of the Software Development Department. Nevertheless, he prefers not to be satisfied with so little, and speaks of the desire that UniLegal can be applied in other universities and be integrated into the Single Citizen Record and digital signature systems to continue advancing on the path of digital transformation that today runs through the house of high studies from Ciego de Ávila.

Months ago, his work team was already giving something to talk about with the Tu Nota application that, which emerged in 2020, facilitates the access of students and families to the results obtained in the Higher Education entrance exams, and whose litmus test was at the University located in the east region of the country, to later spread to Granma, Ciego de Ávila, Pinar del Río and Sancti Spíritus.
