In the opinion of Dr.C. Yurisbel Gallardo Ballat, rector of UNICA, the greatest contribution of UCETID S.A. It is not in what the university can earn monetarily, but in the opportunity for this to be the essential center for the development of research, which later translates into import substitution and a better quality of life for Cubans.

In the same way, he explained that, as part of the new company, both universities must manage science to generate new knowledge that contributes to the development of innovation projects and responds to the demands made by the business sector and the Government in their developmental policies.

Based on the scientific, technological and academic advances achieved during these years by the institutions of higher education involved, the new interface company is projected in strategic areas for the growth of Cuba such as aquaculture, livestock, computerization, academic services and agronomy, the latter with a long tradition and important results in this institution.

For his part, Mr. Sc. Yoelkis Hernández Víctor, first vice-chancellor of UNICA, added that hydraulics should be added to the previous sectors, as another of the potentialities to be exploited, especially with regard to exports, in the service portfolio of UCETID S.A., a company that considers a profit for teachers, entity and country.

Gallardo Ballat announced that UNICA is currently working on the preparation of a file to request the creation of its own Science, Innovation, Technology and Development Interface Company, in which it will share actions with the Bioplant Center and the Information Technology for Defense Company (XETID).

According to the approval document issued by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Science and Technology Interface Society of the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz (UCETID S.A.) must be constituted within a period of 180 days. In the same period, those also recently approved in the universities of East region and Holguín must do so, which will be added to the one already existing in Mayabeque and those associated with the Marta Abreu Central University, of Villa Clara, and the José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana, known as Cujae.

Fostering the link between universities, productive and service sectors and the public administration, in pursuit of the sustainable development of the nation, continues to be a claim of the country's highest leadership, especially the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who in a keynote lecture offered within the framework of University 2022, referred that the knowledge that is born in the academy is key in the implementation of the government management system that the Greater Antilles defends, having science and innovation as fundamental pillars.
