Minint: su desempeño en epopeyas que suman 61 años

The creation of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) on June 6, 1961 could not have been more opportune, since as soon as his functions began, then President John F. Kennedy consulted with his main military chiefs on the costs and possibilities of success of a invasion of its armed forces to Cuba, to take revenge for the defeat at Playa Girón and project the possible course of actions of all kinds against the Island.

Since then, during more than 10 US administrations, the CIA, the Pentagon and official agencies would develop more than 600 plans for attacks against Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, uprisings in rural areas, espionage operations, bacteriological warfare, terrorism and subversive programs, among other operations.

These methods failed in the face of the radicalization and resistance of the revolutionary process, and the leadership of the maximum leader Fidel Castro at the head of his people in victorious battles against the empire and its lackeys, in epics in which the Minint played an important role.

During these years, the Ministry of the Interior has also developed other fundamental directions to guarantee internal and road order, the protection of forests, the prevention and extinction of fires, the border forces, customs services, immigration and aliens, and in new relevant missions. for the full development of society.

It is 61 years of commendable mission, throughout which many combatants came to occupy a seat of honor, such as Captain Eliseo Reyes, San Luis, who at just 25 years old became the legendary head of the MININT in Pinar del Río, where he faced the armed infiltrations on the coasts, and later fought his last combat in the guerrilla of Ernesto Che Guevara, in Bolivia.

He is also an example of an anonymous hero as a State Security agent, Commander Tony Santiago, who penetrated a counterrevolutionary organization in 1964, and while traveling to Miami by sea to fulfill a mission, the small boat was intercepted and sunk by a speedboat gunned down by terrorists. On the verge of being machine-gunned, he responded to fire with his pistol and died screaming: Fatherland or Death! His assassins commented years later.

Our Five Heroes are also signs of intransigence and fidelity to the Revolution, who in their work in the United States risked their lives defending the island's security, and after being arrested, they resisted and did not give up in US prisons until they returned to the bosom of the country.

The current generations of combatants of this armed institution face the enemy's strategy, based on new information and communication technologies, and social networks from which they try to exploit the consequences of the blockade, supply difficulties, in the conditions of life of the people and the mistakes themselves, in this stage of crisis due to the pandemic, which was successfully faced by our scientists and the health system.

The objectives of these maneuvers are not new and correspond to those set forth in an official document in 1960 by Lester D. Mallory, Assistant Vice Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs, who, defending the blockade imposed on Cuba, said that it was aimed at provoking hunger and desperation leading to the overthrow of the Government by the people themselves.

That old policy has remained unchanged for more than 60 years, but today it is masked under new names of alleged Color Revolutions, fake news and post-truth, which also promote committed cyberspace mercenaries, like their failed predecessors, with those old and well-known objectives of capitalist restoration by way of division.

The brave, disciplined and fair attitude of the MININT forces together with the people defeated enemy plans during the disturbances of July 11 and 12 of last year, which sought to establish a climate of violence in the country that would serve as a pretext for an escalation of actions that would lead to a "humanitarian" intervention by Washington, as demanded by the anti-Cuban mafia in Miami and its internal servants.

On this June 6, the 61st anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior, recognition and warm congratulations go to those thousands of men and women who currently continue the mission of those heroic founders.

They renew their commitments, show by their example and decision the fidelity to the principles that gave life to that organization.
