One of the most emblematic sports teams in Ciego de Ávila, Los Búfalos —when it comes to national titles, only surpassed by the men's hockey team (14x9)— left this Sunday for Santiago de Cuba to face the local team there on Tuesday on the first date of one of the semifinals of the Basketball Superior League play off (LSB).

The Ciego de Ávila`s citizens, who practically overwhelmed in the qualifying phase with 24 wins and four losses, will play twice against Halcones from Santiago and then return to the Giraldo Córdova Cardín sport room, which will be the scene of the last three games.

Although the specialists do not hesitate to give the nine-time national champions the wide favorite, there is expectation to see how this semifinal unfolds, since the people from Santiago gave good games and even came out victorious in one of the four duels against the Ciego de Ávila`s team.

Jorge Quintero, technical director of the team, told this editor that the squad is in perfect shape and that the rational management of the main figures of the quintet ensures that the veteran players are in sporting shape to face the postseason.

In the other semifinal playoff, Sancti Spíritus will receive a visit from Capitalinos. Those from Yayabo finished second and some give them favoritism over the Havana team.

However, this Tuesday, Las Sirenas will also take to the field, who will play host to the women from Santiago in the Cardín sport room. The visitors are wide favorites before the students of Moisés Bravo, since it presents a cast to respect. They only conceded two setbacks in the qualifying round.
