Búfalos del baloncesto embisten primero en play off de Liga

Give it the qualification you want: "blow of authority" or "demonstration of superiority", but the truth is that the Búfalos from Ciego de Ávila started the playoffs of the Superior Basketball League (LSB) with a good step by winning this Tuesday against Santiago de Cuba with a slate of 104-73 in the Alejandro Urgellés sport room of the indomitable capital.

We have few references of the game, only that the first quarter ended 29-14, and that, after about three minutes of the second, the losers managed to get closer to only six points (24-30), but the response of the nine-time nationals champions was not long in coming.

We also learned from Radio Rebelde that as soon as the last segment began, Ciego de Ávila team's advantage was 17 cards (83-66).

After finishing the clash, through the telephone, the provincial commissioner of the discipline, Alejandro Cartaya, told us that once again the technical direction rotated all its players.

It is not idle to remember that the team has several veteran athletes and fatigue could play a trick on them in a postseason in which there is little rest during the possible 10 games to be played.

This Wednesday, starting at 4:00 in the afternoon, both quintets will compete again on the stage itself, while on Saturday the hostilities will move to the Giraldo Córdova Cardín room.

Sirens Fall

Before the women from Santiago, the hosts of Ciego de Ávila could do little

As expected, Las Mambisas de Santiago de Cuba also emerged victorious, and convincingly (94-59), against the young team of the Sirenas, on their court.

From the very first quarter, the visitors showed superiority after coming out ahead 29-13. The first half of the match ended 52-33.

The second match is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the same facility, also starting at 4:00 in the afternoon.
