The epidemiological authorities in Ciego de Ávila call for increased surveillance actions in order to prevent dengue fever because of the proliferation of vectors after rainy periods in the province.

Domingo Molina Hernández, head of the arbovirus program at the Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology in the territory, informed the Cuban News Agency that surveillance is a conclusive factor in determining a real epidemiological scenario, therefore efforts should be focused in the control from the communities and the investigations of febrile cases or with symptoms to proceed with early admission.

Intersectorality, the strengthening of work teams in Primary Health Care and joint work with those responsible for Medical Assistance in each municipality are essential to prevent dengue.

Molina Hernández commented that the cleaning and sanitizing of common areas must be insisted on and compliance with the auto-focal to continue confronting the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
