The leading role of young people in the socioeconomic and spiritual transformation of neighborhoods in the country was highlighted by Miriam Brito Sarroca, president of the Commission of Local Bodies of People's Power, speaking at the III Regional Workshop on Integrated Community Work (TCI) corresponding to the central area and based in Ciego de Ávila.
The wide participation of the new generations, as delegates of constituencies or inhabitants of the communities, stood out in the workshops carried out previously in the territories of Granma and Matanzas, and is reiterated in the provinces from Cienfuegos to Camagüey, she acknowledged.
It constitutes, she said, an expression of continuity of the revolutionary work and a reflection of the desire to do and transform with the purpose of increasing the quality of life of the population.
She recommended achieving a perfect pairing between new and experienced people, and insisted on the relevance of increasing popular participation, not only physically, but also through the presentation of criteria and ideas that establish work priorities and help to solve the main dissatisfactions.
Elegaray Pentón Quesada, delegate of District No. 2, popular council Kilo 12, in Sancti Spíritus, and the youngest (19 years old) of the participants, expressed his satisfaction at achieving, in just seven months in office, changes in the communal hygiene, public services and recreation spaces.
Asiel Aguada, 29 years old and representative of the Government in District 54 of the municipality of Santa Clara, assures that in the period of the COVID-19 pandemic the TCI was strengthened, so that the unity of community factors is consolidated to solve the problems.
It is achieved from the assessment of the potentialities and possibilities of the neighborhood, with commitment, love and dedication to the tasks to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants, he added.
Thus, he explained, it was possible to expand services, transform the image, raise the quality of benefits in different social institutions, generate new sources of employment and materialize the Program for the Advancement of Women in the locality by incorporating a greater number of them to socially useful work.
In compliance with the instructions of the President of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernández, these activities have been carried out throughout the country, based on the experiences of workshops on the TCI in popular councils and municipalities.
The most recurrent themes in the debates have been those linked to popular participation in the life of the communities, the inclusion of young people, updating diagnoses, promoting projects in neighborhoods and solving problems with endogenous resources.
This Saturday the second and final day of the event will take place, for which visits by delegates and guests to communities from Ciego de Ávila are planned, where they will exchange with the inhabitants and appreciate actions carried out for the well-being of the population.
