Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) and of the Council of State, urged in the province of Ciego de Ávila to strengthen the application of the concept of Revolution in the neighborhoods expressed by Fidel Castro.
Closing the III Regional Workshop on Integrated Community Work (TCI) corresponding to the central zone of the country, he reiterated the importance of "changing what must be changed", "emancipating ourselves with our own efforts" and consolidating unity there, where it is decided the construction of Socialism.
That is the space of families, the fundamental cell of society and the basis of the Cuban political system, in addition to being a site of interaction for members of different organizations that make up the State, with responsibility for economic, social and spiritual transformations, he added.
Through the unity and action of their forces, the communities must constantly show their strength and capacity to resist the permanent threats and aggressions of the enemies of the Homeland, he emphasized.
To achieve unity around the Cuban social project, he considered essential the consolidation of the performance of militancy in community spaces.
Lazo Hernández reflected with the participants and guests at the event -including leaders of the Party and Government in Avilanian territory- on the implementation of economic and social development strategies, as well as the ways to incorporate non-state forms of management into the plans for progress.
He stressed that there is no possible municipal autonomy without the existence of sufficient income and capacity to produce goods that meet local needs; therefore, it is necessary to exploit resources and potential to the maximum and with efficiency.
He recalled that Ciego de Ávila contributes to national security, considering its responsibility with food, not only for the province, but also for other territories of the country, in view of which it is essential to increase production in the different lines of agriculture.
He called for promoting the sugar industry, closely related to the culture and identity of the nation, in addition to constituting a guarantee to obtain sugar and other cane derivatives that will have an impact on human and animal nutrition, as well as on the development of key sectors.
Accompanied by Liván Izquierdo Alonso, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party, and Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, governor, the president of the ANPP visited, in the afternoon and evening of this Saturday, economic and social objectives of the Avilanian territory, where he exchanged with executives and workers.
The tour included the Bioplant Center, located at the Máximo Gómez Báez University; the Posture Production Brigade, corresponding to the Fruit Tree Production Base Business Unit, of the Ceballos Agroindustrial Company; and the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial General Teaching Hospital.
The III Regional Workshop on Integrated Community Work, which met for two days at the Máximo Gómez University, hosted the presentation of initiatives that are developed in neighborhoods and communities with the aim of teaching new ways of doing things in favor of development.
