Evalúa Consejo Provincial temas de interés económico y social

This Tuesday, issues related to economic and social life were addressed at the Provincial Council, chaired by Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, governor of Ciego de Ávila, and with the presence of Liván Izquierdo Alonso, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

During the meeting, alleged acts of corruption were evaluated in wineries in Morón and Venezuela, an ideal market in the town of Gaspar, in the territory of Baraguá; and in the Commerce and Gastronomy Company of the municipality of Venezuela, incidents that revealed weaknesses in the internal control system and suggest extending verification actions to protect economic objectives.

The Delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment presented the Territorial Environmental Strategy (CITMA), whose objectives and actions contribute to materializing the goals of sustainable economic and social development in Ciego de Ávila and the introduction of the environmental dimension in different spheres.

Rafael Pérez Carmenate, CITMA delegate in the province, referred to the Government System based on Science and Innovation, which seeks to strengthen the role of this activity in the search for creative solutions to problems that arise in the process of economic and social development of the territory, both in the production of goods and services, and in the areas of public administration.

Special attention was devoted by the Provincial Council to the evaluation of the results of the management of the main social policies governed by agreements of the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers, including attention to individuals and families in conditions of vulnerability, women with three or more children, disabled and elderly.

Likewise, the operation of the prevention and social care commissions was analyzed, which, in the opinion of the highest authorities of the territory, require strengthening the performance and extending their structures to the popular councils and constituencies.

Martín Venegas emphasized that the province has financing to ensure the protection of individuals and families in vulnerable conditions, and demanded progress at a higher rate in the identification of cases to offer timely help.

Izquierdo Alonso emphasized that by prioritizing these issues, the essence of the Revolution is defended and the words of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz are honored, when at the 7th Party Congress he stated that "in Cuba no one will be abandoned."
