Sin afectaciones para el día pero sí en el horario pico

For this Thursday, an improvement is expected in electricity generation capacities compared to previous days, which would contribute, if conditions continue, to not planning blackouts during the morning and afternoon, but during the peak hours of the night, although in smaller measure.

With this forecast, an availability of 2,707 MW (megawatts) and a maximum demand of 2,750 MW, for a deficit of 43 MW, are estimated for that period of greatest consumption in the day, so, if so, an affectation is planned 110 MW at peak. Service is forecast to be restored at 11:30 p.m. today.

Units 6, 7 and 8 of the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) (Mariel, Artemisa), CTE unit Otto Parellada (Old Havana), unit 4 of CTE Diez de Octubre are out of service due to breakdowns. (Nuevitas, Camagüey) and unit 3 of the CTE Antonio Maceo (Renté, Santiago de Cuba).

Unit 2 of the CTE Lidio Ramón Pérez (Felton, Holguín) is undergoing maintenance, in which the schedules are advancing to carry out the first synchronization tests at the end of this week, said engineer Lázaro Guerra Hernández, technical director of the Electric Union of Cuba (UNE), in the magazine Good morning.

Technological limitations in thermal generation (454 MW) remain. In distributed generation, 1,023 MW are unavailable due to breakdown and 456 MW are undergoing maintenance.

For peak hours, the use of 342 MW in diesel engines is forecast.

Yesterday, starting at 06:21 am, the electrical service began to be affected due to a lack of capacity in the system. The maximum affectation during the day was 528 MW at 6:30 p.m., and during peak hours it was 295 MW at 8:50 p.m. At 11:28 p.m. last night, all loads were closed.

In the province of Ciego de Ávila yesterday the deficit was maintained throughout the day and night, reaching 25 MW in the peak night hours, a period in which the demand in the province rose to 101 MW, according to information from the Electrical Power Company in the territory.

All circuits were turned off according to schedule, with an average impact of 4 hours and 10 minutes. At 11:38 pm the service was restored in all circuits.

So far, there is no deficit and the availability of generation covers the demand, so no blackouts are forecast during the day, but not for the peak hours at night, when a deficit of 10 MW is estimated.
