In line with the economic-social strategy to boost the economy and confront the global crisis caused by COVID-19, the Cubanacán Hotel Group in Ciego de Ávila promotes Cuban cocktails and food in its three facilities located in the tourist destination King's gardens.
Mariurka Martínez Alemán, delegate of that hotel representation of the Ministry of Tourism, highlighted that this weekend a first competitive cocktail event was held, with the participation of bartenders from the Colonial and Tryp Cayo Coco hotels, and Mojito, the latter selected as host.
The initiative is part of the national campaign "Ponle Salsa", sponsored by the Cubanacán Hotel Group, based on agreements adopted during the International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2022), to promote Cuban cuisine and cocktails as attractions of the Cuban destination by representing culture and national identity, he said.
This project is supported by representatives of Havana Club International S.A, and the Bartenders and Culinary associations in the territory of Ciego de Ávila, with prestigious members who serve as juries in the competitions and contribute experiences to contribute to the improvement of techniques, he explained.
He described the first cocktail event as successful and authentic cultural expression; he congratulated the host hotel for being crowned the only champion in this competition and praised the participants for Colonial and Tryp Cayo Coco, whose performance he also classified as meritorious.
With the assistance of domestic and foreign clients staying at the facility, the competition was conceived as part of the program of activities for the 21st anniversary of the founding of Hotel Mojito, to be held on July 22, he stressed.
Martínez Alemán announced that next Saturday, July 23, a similar contest would take place, dedicated to the culinary arts.
