The actions carried out by 59 entities of the municipality of Morón in the repair of the Roberto Rodríguez Fernández Provincial General Teaching Hospital will increase the quality of care for the 195,225 inhabitants of the six territories located in the north and center of the province of Ciego de Ávila.
When checking the state of execution of the 68 objects of works, Liván Izquierdo Alonso and Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party and Governor, respectively, praised the performance of these organisms, under the 43 measures approved to strengthen the socialist state enterprise.
Despite the scarcity of resources, in just two months, progress was made in solving 247 deficiencies, which constitutes an expression of the will and social conscience of the workers involved in general maintenance actions, the party leader stressed.
The restoration of the Morón hospital has included exterior and interior painting, improvement of common areas and repairs in the admission rooms that guarantee better conditions for patients, companions and medical and nursing staff, according to institution directors.
The arrangements contemplate improvements in roofs and false ceilings, recovery and replacement of carpentry elements, veneers, change of electrical, hydraulic and sanitary networks, in addition to the recovery of clinical furniture and other tools that allow covering the existing deficit and substituting imports.
On their tour, the highest authorities of the province and the municipality participated in the delivery of the Women's Medicine rooms and the Ophthalmology Surgical Unit, recently completed by workers of the Gran Caribe Hotel Group at the destination in Jardines del Rey and the Industry Food, in that order.
Likewise, they visited the cafeteria and the Orthopedic Room, the latter concluded, together with the Stomatology and Legal Medicine departments, before the celebrations for the National Rebellion Day.
Izquierdo Alonso announced that new challenges will be defined before August 13, in salute to the 96th anniversary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro; meanwhile, later historical dates will constitute motivation to conclude other works and on 1st. January 2023 should mark the end of the task.
It is expected to incorporate other organizations, which will make it possible to advance at a higher rate, the also member of the Central Committee of the Party said.
Seven local entities (Food Industry, Commerce and Gastronomy, Gran Caribe, Transtur and the Prefabricated and Premixed Ciego de Ávila Base Business Unit (UEB)) deserved the accrediting distinction of the political movement Latir Avileño, for their contribution to the transformation of the hospital.
Other 11 organizations emerged as outstanding in this social task: UEB 002 Morón, the Basic Electricity Organization, the Meat and Fishing companies, Education, Culture, Civil Aeronautics, the Sanguily Credit and Rescue Services Cooperative, the Biofood Research Center, Collection and Aguas Cayo Coco.
With 485 admission capacities, outpatient services and more than 1,700 professionals, the Morón hospital ensures specialized medical attention to 44.89 percent of the inhabitants of the province of Ciego de Ávila.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, it was one of the first centers in the country dedicated to specialized care for suspected and positive patients for this disease.
Currently, four of its professionals are integrated into the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade, dedicated to confront serious epidemics and disaster situations; while another 17 provide services in different nations of the world, fundamentally in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In the Antonio Luaces Iraola Teaching General Provincial Hospital, located in the main municipality, new works were also inaugurated: Guard Corps, the Pregnant Women's Room A, the Milk Bank, the Transfusion Department and the Protocols Room, according to Dr. Alberto Moronta Enrique, director of that institution.
