Dispuestos galenos avileños para cooperar con Matanzas

The workers of the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial General Teaching Hospital, in the province of Ciego de Ávila, expressed their solidarity and willingness to attend to those injured by the large-scale incident that occurred in the industrial zone of the territory of Matanzas.

Dr. Alberto Moronta Enrique, director of the medical institution, reported that specialists in Intensive Care, Orthopedics and Traumatology, General Surgery and Burns are ready to leave for Matanzas, if their efforts are required.

He highlighted the immediate disposition of these doctors, among whom participants in missions outside Cuba stand out, including members of the "Henry Reeve" International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics.

He assured that they are qualified and trained personnel to face situations of this magnitude, but above all, willing to support and offer their solidarity to the people of Matanzas.

A group of nurses is also prepared to collaborate and entry capacities are foreseen at the Antonio Luaces Iraola in case it is necessary to transfer patients to this territory, where there are human and material resources to provide specialized care, he said.

Speaking to the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, Dr. Nilka Pita Alemán, provincial director of Health in Ciego de Ávila, announced this Saturday the formation of a medical brigade, made up of 13 specialists, who will leave for Matanzas to support local doctors.

The direction of the Provincial Blood Bank today summoned the Ciego de Ávila people to donate the vital liquid, starting at 7:30 am this Sunday, August 7, as a sign of solidarity with those affected by the fire.

In his account on the social network Twitter, Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, governor of Ciego de Ávila, reiterated the willingness of this town to support the Matanzas territory and positioned the hashtags #StrengthMatanzas and #CubaLives&Defeats.

Ciego de Ávila`s citizens have expressed numerous signs of support and solidarity through social networks; They also condemn the position assumed by disaffected elements of the Revolution, who manipulate the facts in favor of anti-Cuban interests.
