The Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) in Ciego de Ávila is committed to bringing culture to communities in vulnerable situations in the territory to fulfill the maxim that summer 2022 is really for everyone.

The members of this guild in the province, organized in different artistic manifestations, such as music, performing arts, visual arts and literature, seek to promote the relationship of culture with the most disadvantaged sectors of the population.

Jesús Cruz Rodríguez, cultural promoter of the UNEAC, explained to the Cuban News Agency that at the beginning of the summer and due to the repairs of the central headquarters, they took as a variant to bring the usual presentations of the artists to the communities.

The companies Primero Theater, Guiñol Polichinela, D' Morón Theater, Haliom Circus, the Zama dance group, the Hermanos Saíz Association, promoters of the Provincial Book Center and the Plastic Arts Council, as well as art instructors and professors of sport, are part of the guerrillas that give life to the community culture in Ciego de Ávila.

This work, he said, is characterized by the treatment of real problems and its ability to transform ways of acting and thinking from art, which is why it shows good acceptance among the public of Ciego de Ávila.

The promoter added that the activities also encourage interactions with different age groups, always taking into account their tastes, preferences, customs, traditions and hobbies.

Cruz Rodríguez commented that the recognition and respect of the socio-cultural component of the community is the essential basis for the success of these initiatives, while at the same time encouraging social participation in the processes of revitalization for local development.

The UNEAC from Ciego de Ávila, along with community work, offers specialized spaces according to the different manifestations of art, such as, for example, literary clubs, photographic and painting exhibitions, concerts, theatrical and audiovisual performances in the locations of each affiliate during the summer day.

The UNEAC house in Ciego de Ávila is currently undergoing major repairs due to the deterioration of a building that dates back to the 1920s.

The tasks carried out by a brigade from the COMCAVILA construction company include waterproofing the roof, repairing the roofs, restoring the original ornamental elements of the house, painting and changing the hydraulic networks.

Offering a summer within the reach of all families is the maxim of artists, who, with the support of the Provincial Government, try to bring culture to all corners of the territory.
