The Electric Company of Ciego de Ávila estimates a deficit of 60 megawatts (MW) in the province today. The entity's strategy, to equate the circuits in time of affectation, will be to turn off in the order of those least affected yesterday and, if the deficit decreases, first restore those that accumulate the most hours of affectation.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the deficit in the availability of generation was maintained 24 hours a day, with a maximum of 65 MW turned off.

The average time of affectation per circuit in the province was 12 hours and 20 minutes and the maximum demand was 114 MW at 8:50 past meridian.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the service was affected due to capacity deficit 24 hours a day in the national territory. The maximum affectation at night was 1068 MW at 8:40 p.m. The service remained affected throughout the early hours of today.

This Thursday a maximum affectation of 950 MW is estimated during the daytime.

Units 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) (Mariel, Artemisa), the Otto Parellada CTE unit (Tallapiedra, Old Havana), units 4 and 5 are out of service due to breakdowns. of the CTE Diez de Octubre (Nuevitas, Camagüey), units 1 and 2 of the CTE Lidio Ramón Pérez (Felton, Holguín) and unit 5 of the CTE Antonio Maceo (Renté, Santiago de Cuba). The limitations in thermal generation (433 MW) are maintained.

In distributed generation, 1,064 MW are unavailable due to breakdown and 508 MW are undergoing maintenance.

For peak hours, the entry of unit 5 of the CTE Renté with 85 MW and the use of 245 MW in diesel engines is forecast.

With this forecast, an availability of 2,210 MW and a maximum demand of 3,080 MW are estimated for peak hours, for a deficit of 870 MW, so if the forecast conditions are maintained, an affectation of 940 MW is forecast at the peak.

Engineer Lázaro Guerra Hernández, technical director of the Cuban Electric Union (UNE), in the informative magazine Buenos Días, said that it is expected that by the weekend the effects will decrease after the incorporation of five thermal blocks: units 5 of CTE Renté, CTE Mariel and CTE Nuevitas, respectively, unit 1 of CTE Felton and unit 8 of CTE Mariel.

All consumption restriction measures are implemented in the state sector.
