The National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) reaffirmed the value of social communication as an essential tool to work with the people in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic, economic tensions, and difficulties in the electricity system.
Enrique Moreno Gimeranez, Director of Communication of the Cuban Parliament, highlighted in Ciego de Ávila that holding provincial workshops in the People's Power system plans to strengthen this activity, conceived by President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez as one of the fundamental pillars in the government management.
He expressed that the structures of People's Power at the different levels have the responsibility to remain at the forefront of this task, to consolidate the two-way dialogue (person to person) in the neighborhoods, a key element that contributes to the improvement of the system of government in the country.
He referred to the experiences of the communication campaign for the 45th anniversary of the constitution of the Organs of People's Power, which allowed to reflect in depth the institutional work, recognize the performance of the delegates, strengthen ties with the press and a greater rapprochement to the population.
He urged to strengthen the presence of the People's Power system in traditional communication platforms and social networks, as a distinctive element of Cuba before the world and in defense of the Revolution.
The provincial workshops of Social Communication in the field of government have been developed in several provinces of the western region of the country (the capital and Artemisa remain); this week they take place in the territories of the central zone and in the month October, they will take place in the eastern portion, he declared.
The purpose is to go through all the regions to address the issue with the addresses of the municipal assemblies, the provincial governments and their Social Communication teams, so that their performance is known and they can improve it based on details and guidelines from the ANPP, he said.
These events are developed with provincial representatives of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators; the Union of Journalists of Cuba and Cuban universities where careers related to the activity are studied.
Moreno Gimeranez stressed that Esteban Lazo Hernández and Ana María Mari Machado, president and vice president of the ANPP, respectively, are following the meetings, aware that social communication is a strategic pillar in government management.
This Monday in Ciego de Ávila, the experiences of the Department of Information and Social Communication of the Provincial Government and the Municipal Assembly of People's Power in Florencia were socialized, the latter with its campaign "Development begins here", promoted by the Center for Local Development and Community.
In that central province, the territories of Florencia, Chambas and Ciro Redondo were recognized as the most outstanding for their work, both on citizen portals and on social networks; and progress was recognized in the remaining seven locations.
