Tropical depression seven continued to gain in organization and intensity over the central Atlantic during the last few hours, becoming Tropical Storm Fiona. The maximum sustained winds reached up to 85 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts and its central pressure dropped to 1002 hectoPascal.

At 11:00 p.m., the center of Fiona is located at 16.7 degrees North latitude and 52.0 degrees West longitude, a position that places it about 1,000 kilometers east of the northern group of the Lesser Antilles Arc.

It is moving west northwest at 26 kilometers per hour.

In the next 12 to 24 hours, this system will continue with a similar course and speed of movement, gradually gaining more organization and intensity before it affects the islands of the northern group of the Lesser Antilles on Friday.

Given the position of this system and the time of year, the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology keeps a close eye on its evolution and future trajectory.

The next Tropical Cyclone Warning for this system will be issued at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday.
