The opening of 17 special polling stations in tourist facilities in the Jardines del Rey destination will facilitate the right to vote for more than 3,000 national clients who will remain housed in the northern cays of Ciego de Ávila, during the day of the popular referendum on the Family Code.

Iyolexis Correa Lorenzo, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in the territory, specified that a dozen of these spaces were enabled in hotels of the Cubanacán and Gran Caribe brands, and the rest in accommodation centers belonging to the Gaviota Hotel Group.

It is conceived that the workers of the sector attend the schools in their areas of residence, however, those who are fulfilling work functions may consummate the act in the tourist facilities themselves, Marleny Báez Valdivia, vice president of the Provincial Electoral Council (CEP), explained.

In the hotels, the spaces organized for the popular referendum are located in public areas (the Lobby or its surroundings) and have optimal conditions, in correspondence with what is established in Law 127 "Electoral Law" and verified during the dynamic test of the previous Sunday, she added.

The polling stations in tourist facilities in Jardines del Rey are made up of workers from the hotels themselves, who have shown responsibility, seriousness and concern for the study of the documents inherent to the aforementioned democratic process, she said.

She highlighted the presence of young people among the electoral authorities, which reaffirms the commitment of the new generations to the success of the referendum.

Báez Valdivia stated that the CEP arranged for a Member to advise those who will be in charge of the special electoral colleges in the northern cays of Ciego de Ávila, where four will also open in the Military Construction Union (UCM) and others in the international airport, the Aguas Cayo Coco Company and popular camping.

The guests of the campsites located in Los Naranjos and Punta Alegre will exercise their right to vote in constituencies near these facilities, which was previously agreed with the electoral authorities of said localities, the CEP reported.

The remaining special polling stations will be located in the hotels of Morón and Ciego de Ávila, the Ramón Paz Borroto Provincial Defense Preparation School, the Roberto Rodríguez Fernández and Antonio Luaces Iraola provincial hospitals; a Navy ship Azulmar and the National buses and railways stations in the main municipality.

In the province, initially 11 special polling stations were conceived, a figure that later increased to 29, when new spaces were enabled in Jardines del Rey.

As defined in the Complementary Rules of Law 127 “Electoral Law”, the special schools are constituted in places of transit to create opportunities to vote for voters distant from their areas of residence for work, educational or personal reasons.
