Ciego de Ávila ratifica Código de las Familias

This Monday, Cuba celebrates the approval in a popular referendum of the Family Code, a decision that in Ciego de Ávila was supported by the 176,449 votes that were in favor of the entry into force of a regulation that makes affections law, according to this report. Monday the Provincial Electoral Council (CEP).

This morning, Alina Balseiro, president of the National Electoral Council (CEN), announced that the new Family Code has been ratified by the Cuban people, with three million 936,790 votes counted in favor of its entry into force.

Osvaldo Álvarez Díaz, president of the CEP, explained that the popular referendum began in the territory with a basic part of 330,316 voters, to whom, during the course of the day, 41,370 were added, for those registered on the list, for an updated list of 371,686 voters.

At the close of voting, 262,120 voters, for 70.58 percent, exercised their right to vote in the province in a preliminary manner, within which the municipalities of Florencia (77.75%), Chambas (77.57%) and Majagua (75.98%) are registered as those with the highest attendance at the polls, while Ciego de Ávila (65.69%) and Morón (69.60%) exhibit the lowest percentages.

The president of the CEP added that, when evaluating the quality of the vote, it was concluded that 261,200 ballots were deposited in the polls, of which 246,423 were valid, which represented 94.34 percent, while 8,020 were blank (3.07 %) and 6757 were annulled (2.58%).

The counted affirmative votes represent 71.60 percent of the ballots deposited, compared to the 28.40 percent accumulated by the 69,974 votes that were registered for the No.

Álvarez Díaz recognized the discipline of the voters who, despite the inclement weather for most of the day, went to the polling stations early, and thanked the support of all those who made it possible for Ciego de Ávila to hold a popular referendum quality.
