Although the rainfalls associated with the external bands of the flow of Hurricane Ian do not register significant accumulations in Ciego de Ávila, they do benefit the water table and the filling of some reservoirs.

Until this Thursday, the rainfall at intervals marked about 168 millimeters, a figure that represents 102.9 percent of accumulated rain.

"The Liberation of Florencia hydraulic complex is the only reservoir that has benefited so far with 88 percent filling," Luis Valero Freire, a specialist in development and management of water resources, said.

Despite the modest levels of recorded rainfall, the Hydraulic Company in Ciego de Ávila always maintains strict surveillance of the filling of the reservoirs for early warning in the event of possible flooding.
