Some 37 projects, in accommodation, recreational and support areas, are contemplated in the development strategy of the tourism sector in the province of Ciego de Ávila until the year 2030, with the purpose of expanding and perfecting the options destined to national and foreign clients.
Iyolexis Correa Lorenzo, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), emphasized that in the period 2022‒2024 work will be done to increase the hotel plant, through three investments in Cayo Paredón Grande, where the Gaviota Hotel Group conceived the construction of three facilities.
Completed in this stage, the Grand Aston Cayo Paredón Hotel will provide services as of today, while the completion of another two (Roca Norte 1 and Roca Norte 2), by Real Estate Almest, is scheduled for the year 2023, accurate.
The so-called leisure industry also foresees capital repairs in the Santiago-Habana and Perla del Norte hotels, located in the cities of Ciego de Ávila and Morón, respectively; as well as the improvement of the so-called Vigía, in Cayo Guillermo, works that will be carried out by the Tourism Real Estate Agency (Inmotur), she said.
She explained that two other facilities, Villa Gregorio and Casa Vigía, located in Cayo Guillermo and managed by the Islazul Hotel Brand, will be subject to expansions that will allow for another 36 lodging capacities.
The Palmares Hotel Group plans to diversify the leisure options in the northern cays of Ciego de Ávila, through the construction of the AquaRey Park and the Cayo Mortero Recreational Complex, both of which would be located in Cayo Guillermo, she added.
In correspondence with the increase in accommodation capacities, the creation of a food processing center and a bakery-sweet shop is also planned in Morón, in addition to a support base for the Tourism Services Company (Emprestur) in Cayo Paredón, and a shelter for workers of the entity itself in Cayo Coco.
The construction of workshops, in the main city and Cayo Coco, for the vehicles of the Transtur Transportation Company is added to this.
As part of the assurances for the growth and progress of the sector, Almest planned, until the year 2030, the annual construction of 140 homes for workers in the city of Morón; and Inmotur estimates, before the end of 2024, to build another 318 of them on land belonging to the city itself and the town of Turiguanó.
The MINTUR Development Plan includes actions in Los Naranjos, Boquerón and Cayo Coco popular campsites, with the aim of improving the quality of the services provided by these facilities.

Despite the slowdown in its growth rate, the leisure industry continues to be a locomotive for progress in the Cuban nation, where there is potential to provide competitive and quality goods and services.
In the Jardines del Rey tourist destination, made up of Coco, Guillermo, Paredón Grande and Antón Chico cays, the growth of the hotel plant until the year 2030 will materialize with the construction of 22 facilities to have 20 000 new rooms.
