On this occasion, out of a general enrollment of 1,585 students who are in their final pre-university degree, about 1,000 will take the entrance exams to continue their studies at the University, according to Lázaro Padrón Pereira, general director of Higher Secondary Education in the Provincial Directorate of Education, to which are added around 300 who already have a pre-awarded career.

Padrón Pereira explained that, once the school year restarted on September 5, the preparation strategy for entrance exams was redesigned based on the remaining 10 weeks, within which special attention is paid to schools with low results in the previous course, and a schedule was conceived according to which six shifts of classes will be taught in the morning section for the consolidation of contents in the subjects of Mathematics, Spanish and History, while the afternoon will be used for work with spelling and differentiated attention to those students who need it.

Likewise, he added, a weekly space was created in which teachers and parents can exchange, and where the latter are informed about the evolution and performance of their children, so that the family also gets involved and can support so that get the best possible results.

The foregoing is also complemented by the methodological preparation of the professors who work with the admission subjects, for which five branches were created in the territory in the municipalities of Chambas, Morón, Baraguá, Majagua and the main city, and in what has greatly influenced having assured the teaching coverage that today requires the 12th grade.

To evaluate the situation in which the students to be examined find themselves, the general director of Higher Secondary Education in the Provincial Directorate of Education explained that knowledge checks have been applied, in an exploratory manner, in the subjects to be evaluated, but , at the end of this month, others of greater rigor must be applied, with the aim of simulating the real conditions of an entrance test, in order to identify the contents and skills in which students may still present difficulties and reinforce them during the exams. remaining weeks.

For the period 2023, as announced by Dr. C. Niurka Tejeda García, specialist of the Provincial Admissions Commission, 2,476 vacancies in Ciego de Ávila make up the plan for admission to the University in the day course, of which 1,842 are university careers and 634 are higher technicians, so there is a guaranteed career for each student, based on their academic results.

Tejeda García pointed out that at the end of this month a first award should be made for students who obtain a university degree without taking the entrance exams, having previously passed the aptitude tests in specialties such as International Relations, Journalism, those offered by the University of the Arts, those who were winners of contests, the best graduates of the Professional Technical Education, of the Intermediate Health Technician, come from the University College, or are going to enter the Higher Customs Technician.

To access the daytime course, the best right is obtained by the applicant who presents and passes the entrance exams, although presenting and passing is not an exclusive requirement to obtain a degree, hence in the order of priorities those who disapprove follow and, in Ultimately, those who did not show up.

The coming days 15, 18 and 22 November will take place the ordinary call for entrance exams to Higher Education in the subjects of Mathematics, Spanish and History, respectively; at the same time, the special one, for those who for very justified reasons cannot attend the first one, will take place on January 9, 11 and 13, 2023.

With a preparation that has taken place in better conditions than those of the two previous school years, Padrón Pereira believes that Ciego de Ávila can surpass the results obtained in the previous edition of these exams, where History surprised with 12.73 percent fewer passes than in 2021, enough for the province to fall below the 70 percent pass mark it had set out to achieve.
