Informa Consejo Electoral Nacional los resultados oficiales del referendo del Código de las Familias

In the morning hours of September 26, after the voting had concluded, the president of the National Electoral Council announced that the new Family Code had been approved, having obtained the majority affirmative vote (Yes) in the valid votes cast by the voters. , in a legislative referendum called for on September 25, 2022.

The National Electoral Council, in accordance with the provisions of articles 28 subsection c) and 35 subsection a) of the Electoral Law, validated its results, both in Cuba and abroad.

To this end, the cases of those voters who, on the day designated by the Council of State for voting, exercised their right to vote in a polling place other than the one they were registered for were carrying out tasks related to production, services, teaching or other justified reasons that made it impossible for them to go to these, so they were included in the place where they cast their vote, after accrediting their status as a voter before the members of the electoral table.

This made it easier for a significant number of voters to have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote.

For this, 224 special schools were created, located in air, railway and bus terminals, hospitals, hotels, student residences and other places with a high agglomeration of voters, by virtue of what is legally established.

Other voters in these conditions did so in the schools closest to the places where they were.

The final results reported today have required hard work from our electoral authorities and specialists from the Electoral Registry, with total transparency, at a time when we are recovering from the effects of Hurricane Ian and the energy emergency.

The process began with a basic part of 8,447,467 voters.

There were 13,058 inclusions and 2,547 exclusions due to death, which allowed us to conclude with an updated list of 8,457,978 voters, of whom 6,269,427 exercised the right to vote, for 74.12% attendance at the polls.

The blank ballots represent 3.22% and the annulled ones 2.51% of the voters who voted (6,269,427 voters).

Of the total number of ballots deposited in the polls, 5,909,385, 94.25%, were declared valid because they met the requirements established by law.

3,950,288 voters voted for Yes, 66.85% of the total number of valid ballots.

They voted for No. 1,959,097 voters, 33.15%.

The National Electoral Council ratifies the recognition to all the participants for the work carried out and, especially, to the electoral authorities and our people.
