Solidarity and love, in the midst of an economically complex scenario, are converging feelings among the participants in the XVI International Symposium on Arthroscopy, Joint Surgery and Sports Ciego de Ávila 2022, which from today until October 8 is held at the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital.

The Cuban Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, the Cuban Arthroscopy Group and its Ciego de Ávila`s chapter, open the doors to prestigious European and North American doctors who esteem, value and respect Cuban medicine.

Similarly, doctors and specialists from several provinces also participate in the event and will receive lectures on the Update of diagnostic imaging, Anesthetic update in arthroscopy and joint surgery, Arthroscopy of the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle, in addition to the presentation of cases clinical.

According to Arsenio Hernández González, head of the Antonio Luaces Iraola Orthopedics Service, a conference session is scheduled for today, the presentation of clinical cases, and an update on rotator cuff injuries, anesthesia in shoulder surgery, and meniscus injuries.

The breadth of topics, the depth of study and the learning of new techniques and procedures characterize this Symposium, in which participants also receive updates on procedures in hip arthroscopy, joint instability, peripheral plexus anesthesia, in ankle osteoarthritis and syndesmosis injuries; that is, one that is not accompanied by a fracture or serious ligament injury in another area of ​​the ankle.

Osvaldo García Martínez, Doctor of Medical Sciences, second degree specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology, told Granma that doctors Eduard Buess, from Switzerland; Christian Wurnig, from Austria; and Bruno Toussaint, from France, prestigious scientists with extensive knowledge in arthroscopic surgery.
