    Today, Maximum deficit of 75 MW forecast in Ciego de Ávila

    The Ciego de Ávila Electric Company reports that yesterday, Sunday, the deficit in generation availability reached a maximum of 58 megawatts (MW) during peak hours.

    The average of affectation by circuits was 5 hours and 15 minutes, while the maximum demand in the territory of Ciego de Ávila occurred at 7:00 at night with 120 MW. For the present day, a deficit of 75 MW is estimated in the province.

    The maximum effect on Sunday night in the national territory was 936 MW at 7:00 p.m., coinciding with peak hour. A maximum affectation of 700 MW is estimated for today due to a deficit in generation capacity during daytime hours.

    Units 6 and 7 of the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) (Mariel, Artemisa), CTE unit Otto Parellada (Tallapiedra, Habana Vieja), unit 4 of the CTE Diez de Octubre are out of service due to breakdowns. (Nuevitas, Camagüey) and unit 2 of the CTE Lidio Ramón Pérez (Felton, Holguín).

    Unit 8 of the CTE Mariel, unit 2 of the CTE Ernesto Guevara (Santa Cruz del Norte, Mayabeque), unit 5 of the CTE Nuevitas, unit 1 of the CTE Felton and unit 3 of the CTE Antonio Maceo (Renté, Santiago de Cuba) are under maintenance.

    The technological limitations of the operating blocks of thermal generation (372 MW) are maintained. In distributed generation, 1,029 MW are unavailable due to breakdown and 733 MW are undergoing maintenance. For peak hours, the entry of unit 8 of the CTE Mariel with 75 MW and the entry of 105 MW in diesel engines is estimated.

    With this forecast, an availability of 2,084 MW and a maximum demand of 3,100 MW are estimated for the peak hour, for a deficit of 1,016 MW. Therefore, if the forecast conditions continue, an impact of 1,086 MW is forecast for this hour.

    The Ciego de Ávila Electric Company prepared the following schedule of damages in the event of a generation deficit, for the week of October 31 to November 6.
