The economic gains and satisfaction of the population's material needs confirm the usefulness of the retail store of the Materials Recovery Company (ERMP) of Ciego de Ávila, destined to the commercialization of recycled articles with use value.

Kendry Mastrapa Diéguez, deputy director of the entity, highlighted that it was among the first opened by the Recycling Business Group in the country and, since July, it has reported economic benefits of more than 200,000 pesos in national currency, in addition to expanding the conception of ERMP as an entity dedicated to wholesale sales.

He pointed out that it has offered facilities to the population, in a way to residents in the main city (due to its proximity), from the sale of construction materials, plastic and glass containers, ironing boards and textile clothing such as sheets, covers, towels, pillows and cushions.

Most are acquired through recovery contracts in 22 tourist facilities in the Jardines del Rey destination, where they lose value in use due to the need to maintain quality in accommodation services, however, some remain in good condition, so they can be used and make up for material deficiencies in homes, he explained.

The products could come from other entities, both state and private, since they remain open to commercial exchange with all forms of economic management, a guarantee to increase the recirculation of raw materials in the face of the decrease in the entry of resources to the Cuban nation.

He assured that, to the extent that they identify products with use value and demand in the retail market, they will increase the offers in that establishment, located inside the ERMP and with the essential conditions for commercial management and the well-being of workers and customers.

This modality enables diversification and confers added value to the entity's productions, he stressed.

In the next few years they could be manufacturing hoses and glass cups – the latter based on links with workers in the non-state sector in the province of Camagüey – products with high demand that will have a presence in the retail store, he added.

Mirta Rosa Doyley Johnson, president of the popular council Alfredo Gutiérrez Lugones, in the city of Ciego de Ávila, recognized the opportunity to acquire, at affordable prices, useful goods for homes and the development of productions by self-employed workers and non-state entities, especially those that require containers and packaging.

The ERMP, recognized at the country level for its economic indicators and insertion in the European market through exports of non-ferrous metals and other resources, also stands out for its social projection by joining the National Program for Transformations in Neighborhoods and Communities.

The actions carried out in the aforementioned popular council and rehabilitation of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Room of the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial General Teaching Hospital, endorsed the recent granting to that entity of the Ciego de Ávila Heartbeating condition, conferred on organizations that excel in fulfilling their missions and social works.

Manuel Rieche González, director of the ERMP, emphasized the investment of more than two and a half million pesos in social works, in order to increase the quality of life and public services, a satisfaction that accompanies the workers on the 61st anniversary of the GER, to be held on November 7.
