The more than 650 tons (t) of agricultural products sent from Ciego de Ávila to the western provinces most affected by Hurricane Ian, express the solidarity and willingness to support the recovery efforts, currently concentrated in the territory of Pinar del Río.

Susivey Márquez Toledo, coordinator of Programs and Objectives of the Economy in the Provincial Government of People's Power, specified that three shipments of food and fruit have been made, most of it (336.2 t) to the people of Pinar del Río and an important contribution to the residents of the capital.

Collaborations are added by residents of the 10 municipalities, political, social and mass organizations, in addition to unions, with significant contributions from agricultural workers, communications, construction, industry, energy and mines, health, transportation, tourism and defense civilians, she added.

She emphasized that cash donations, made through accounts authorized in the banking system, exceed 281 440 pesos, national currency, from transfers made, mainly, by entities of the main municipality, the agricultural sector, political and mass organizations, Public Health and local subordination.

The Popular Savings and Credit and Commerce banks also stood out for depositing cash, even the workers of the latter contributed part of the profits for the quarter, she acknowledged.

She pointed out that the number of centers incorporated into this solidarity movement exceeds 170, while the number of workers exceeds 13,800.

She valued the contribution of Ciego de Ávila`s citizens as significant and stated that the province will continue to offer help, especially to Pinar del Río, where the greatest damage was recorded after the passage of the extreme hydrometeorological event.

Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas explained that the Agriculture system continues to accumulate resources for other donations, with the intention of making weekly shipments that help alleviate the complex situation.

The government authority reported that almost 300 inhabitants, linked to different sectors of the economy, are currently participating in the recovery efforts in the westernmost of the Cuban provinces.

Paulino Pérez Viera, general director of the Construction Materials Company of Ciego de Ávila, stated that they plan to send resources to restore and rebuild damaged homes and public institutions, which would be added to the contribution of more than 1,200 items destined to cover needs of the victims.

Liván Izquierdo Alonso, member of the Central Committee of the Party and its first secretary in the province of Ciego de Ávila, recognized the solidarity and human sensitivity shown from this territory in the face of the difficult situation that the brothers from Pinar del Río are going through.
