Marabana participants will also honor history in Ciego de Ávila

More than fifty athletes participating in the traditional Marabana marathon, including runners from the national athletics and skating team, together with the people of Ciego de Ávila, will participate on November 30 in the First sporting event Crossing the Trail from Júcaro to Morón. 

The participants, among whom more than 5,000 people-athletes from the province are expected to participate, will travel 10 kilometers along the main avenues of the capital city, starting and finishing at Martí Park. 

From 8:00 in the morning and until 2:00 in the afternoon, runners can register for the competitive and popular race at Martí Park. 

Sources organizing the event confirmed to Granma that the first activity would have to do with the Educate Your Child Program, in which pregnant women, the elderly and students from special schools will participate. 

Then, they will continue with the popular races in which primary school students will participate, a skating circuit, a cycling circuit and the massive race with those who want to participate, which will give way to the popular competition and the marathon, the latter, at four o'clock p.m. 

With these activities, the people of Ciego de Ávila will celebrate the 127th anniversary of the crossing of Maceo through the Trail from Júcaró to Morón —on November 29— and one day later the formation of the Invading Army in the pastures of Lázaro López and, at the same time, they will remember the 66th Anniversary of the Santiago de Cuba Uprising, two transcendental events in the historiography of the emancipatory struggles of the Greater Antilles.
