Ronny Álvarez Noa, judoka avileño

The Provincial Government Council in Ciego de Ávila gratified the performance of Ronny Álvarez Noa, who was crowned champion in the 86-kilogram division, during the recently concluded La Nucía 2022 Youth Boxing World Cup, in the Spanish province of Alicante.

On behalf of the citizens of Ciego de Ávila, Liván Izquierdo Alonso and Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and governor, respectively, gave the distinguished fighter a recognition that expresses the admiration, respect and affection of his people.

Before arriving in his hometown, Las Palmas Community, in the municipality of Chambas, the boxer revealed details about his most recent experience, assumed in disadvantageous conditions when his health was weakened, as a result of injuries and a flu process, before the which imposed the will and commitment to the Cuban sports movement.

He expressed that his coaches, the status of team captain and the desire to be crowned world champion to climb to the top of the podium to watch the hoisting of his flag and listen to his anthem, urged him to recover, so he fought five fights until get the gold medal.

The athlete dedicated the medal to his grandparents, who have always been aware of his performance, not only as a competitor, but also as a person.

He stated that he is eternally grateful to his native Las Palmas, where he is loved well, they support his profession, they are aware of his fights and his emotional state and health.

A follower of Julio César La Cruz declared that, although he had the desire to be a national starter, he will continue to focus on his training, because he wants to participate as a member of the Cuba Tamers in the 2024 Olympics.

During La Nucía 2022 World Youth Boxing Championship, on November 21, 2022, he secured the bronze medal after defeating the Polish Patryk Boruck (5-0) in the 86 kg category; in the semifinals, he beat the Irish Osaro Ojo Natha 4-1 and, in the final, he defeated the Italian Paolo Caruso (3-2), a victory that awarded him the gold medal. 

To his career as an athlete, Álvarez Noa adds gold medals, in the 91 kg division, in the Pan American Boxing Qualifying Championship and the I Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia, in 2021. 

On March 13, 2022, he reached the title in the 92 kg division in the 31st edition of the Adriatic Pearl Tournament (youth category), held in the city of Budva, Montenegro, by defeating Georgian Giorgi Delanozishvli 3-2.
