The constitution in the province of Ciego de Ávila of a section of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba (CCRC) will expand the opportunities to train and increase the participation of local businesses in commercial events aimed at promoting exports of products and services.
Tania Rodríguez Mexidor, director of the CCRC for the Territorial Delegation of Camagüey-Ciego de Ávila, pointed out that the new structure is made up of representatives of different entities from Ciego de Avila, who from their functions will promote the integration between state entities and new economic actors.
She argued that it will contribute to the process of internationalization of the associated groups, and will be able to carry out diagnoses on the current state of imports, exports and foreign investment, in addition to process concerns in those work environments, so that there will be a more direct and effective work.
The general directors of the Construction Materials Company (Avilmat) and the High Density Polyethylene Pipe Factory (Ciegoplast) were sworn in as president and vice president, respectively; while the director of Foreign Trade of the Ceballos Agro-industrial Company and the head of La Ceiba MSME were elected as members.
Rodríguez Mexidor specified that they will represent the 15 member entities of Ciego de Ávila, linked to the commercialization of charcoal, fruit trees, juices and nectars in the international market.
She stressed that other companies choose to be members, such as the MSME Media Luna; some local development projects are in the affiliation process and others, very close to the Chamber, may join when they have legal status.
With 74 associates, the Camagüey‒Ciego de Ávila region has 25 state entities, in addition to 101 products and 47 modalities of provision of services, linked to exports, however, the accumulated profits until the end of last September behave by below what was planned, she said.
She explained that, as a consequence of the energy contingency and difficulties with crops, the accumulated income from exports was 11,520,500 dollars, representing 54.9 percent of what was planned and affected by non-compliance in shipments of charcoal, pineapples, mango puree, avocado, Persian lime and others abroad.
She emphasized that the efforts of the country's leadership have been aimed at providing tools to the entrepreneurial community to maintain the sustainability and vitality of the country, and to identify products and services with exportable values.
It is added, she alleged, the interest in ensuring that all economic actors get to know each other, connect and achieve levels of competitiveness that allow them to enter the international market, with better prices and complying with the required standards.
The challenge, she insisted, is to produce with quality, gain consistency and guarantee a stable presence on the global economic scene, which will also depend on the ability to evolve from simple exporters of raw materials to elaborate more products that will facilitate an increase in income.
For this purpose, she declared, the Competitiveness, Value Chain, Internationalization and Digital Transformation programs are applied, aimed at preparing the business community and its structures to produce with more quality and strengthen the commercial image in the world.
Rubén Ramos Arrieta, vice president of the CCRC, said that since 2021, they have strengthened links with non-state forms of management, some have joined and others have not, but they work intensely with the Chamber in the process of internationalization.
He stated that the territorial delegations of the CCRC must strengthen their work with all companies, so that they favor the increase in production and exports, which will facilitate the entry of fresh money to implement the National Economic and Social Development Plan.
