The will to preserve education as one of the main achievements of the Revolution, close to its 64th anniversary, was ratified today from the municipality of Morón, in the province of Ciego de Ávila, during the celebrations for Educator's Day.
The act for the date took place at the Roberto Zamora Machado School of Conduct, in the so-called Rooster City, in the northern center of the territory.
Ernesto Marrero Vega, member of the secretariat of the National Union for Education, Science and Sports (SNTECD), recalled that on December 22, 1961, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro proclaimed Cuba as the first illiteracy-free territory in Latin America.
He stressed that the educational work is immersed in the third process of improvement of its national system, which takes up previous experiences and adopts new "paths" to raise the quality of education, an essential purpose of Cuba that closely follows the education of its children.
The population, he emphasized, are committed to strengthening the quality of the educational system, which includes the promotion of values and feelings of love for the Homeland, appreciable in their integration into productive days, voluntary blood donations, support for the popular referendum on the Code of Families and the electoral process.
He recognized the contributions to the Maternal-Child Care Program and the fight against cancer, as well as the incorporation into the solidarity movement developed in the territory to help the western provinces affected by Hurricane Ian, particularly Pinar del Río.
He highlighted as priorities the continuity of the improvement of the methodological work, the preparation of the teaching staff to raise the quality of the teaching-learning process, the strengthening of the political-ideological work and the use of digital platforms as a combat scenario.
Other premises are the permanent dialogue with the student body, in order to face antisocial manifestations, and the incorporation of the program to counteract cultural colonization, he said.
He added that it is also intended to reinforce preventive work, in conjunction with political and mass organizations, through comprehensive care for children, adolescents and young people; and guarantee teaching coverage, by complying with entry plans to all training pathways.
Marrero Vega alluded to the permanence of differentiated attention to the Cándido González Morales Vocational Pre-University Institute of Exact Sciences (IPVCE), and the follow-up on the implementation of the teaching-productive strategy in Technical-Professional Education and the study-work principle in all levels.
Liván Izquierdo Alonso and Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party and Governor, respectively, imposed the Frank País Order, First Degree, on teachers Manuel Sabino Grant Conde and Sergio Molina González, workers of the Provincial Directorate of Education (DPE).
The Distinction for Cuban Education, recognition for the merits and contributions to the sector, was awarded to five educators from the municipality of Morón; meanwhile, prominent educators from the host territory, Ciro Redondo, Majagua, Primero de Enero, Ciego de Ávila, Venezuela, Bolivia and Chambas, received the Special Recognition granted by the Ministry of Education.
This last honor was also awarded to educators from the IPVCE and the DPE.
The SNTECD Provincial Secretariat awarded the Rafael María de Mendive medal to workers with more than 25 years of service and relevant results, belonging to the Nguyen Van Troi Urban Pre-University Institute, the José Antonio Echeverría Faculty of Rural Workers and the José de la Luz and Caballero and Antonio Maceo Grajales.
Education in the province recognized the municipality of Morón for compliance with the sector's efficiency indicators at this stage.
The provincial representations of the Party, Government, the Union of Young Communists, Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, the Ministries of Public Health and Science, Technology and Environment, and the National Association of Small Farmers, extended recognition to the educational sector in the territory.
RECOGNITIONS
By agreement of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba and in compliance with Presidential Decree number 454 of July 6, 2022, the First Degree Frank País Order was awarded to Teachers:
• MSc Manuel Sabino Grant Conde, from the Provincial Directorate of Education
• MSc Sergio Molina González, from the Provincial Directorate of Education
The Council of State, in Decree Law 53 of March 29, 1982, established the Distinction ''For Cuban Education'', as a decoration, which is granted to education workers in recognition of the merits achieved and the work carried out in the enrichment of education, in the promotion of the educational work of the country and for having maintained an exemplary and consistent attitude with the main revolutionaries.
The Minister of Education, DraC. Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, using the powers conferred on her by said decree proposed to the Council of State and approved by the Ministerial Resolution of May 29, 2022, awarded the Distinction "For Cuban Education" to the following educators from the municipality of Morón:
