Its official start, scheduled for this Thursday, December 22nd, could not take place due to the breakage of a part that prevents the full operation of the two boilers of the electricity generating plant, and therefore, prevents the stabilization of an industrial exchange that allows sugar to be manufactured.

Eduardo Larrosa Vázquez, director of coordination and technical supervision of the Azcuba Sugar Group in Ciego de Ávila, told Invasor that the so-called Colossus from the Center Region began to carry out this industrial chain on December 18, with a view to produce more than 41,000 tons of sweetener.

Until the breakage is resolved, the device will remain in the testing phase, correcting other details that may arise, he added.

The harvest in Ciego de Ávila has to go from theory to practice

Grinding 777,211 tons of cane to produce 54,562 tons of sugar: thus, with that watchmaker's precision, the plans for the Ciego de Ávila`s milling that could whistle next week are conceived if other synchronizations are not delayed further in time. That of the Bioelectric and the Ciro Redondo power plant, for example.

Those first days were productive, because, according to the manager, they made molasses assigned to the distillery of the Enrique Varona Sugar Agro-industrial Company, in the municipality of Chambas, for the manufacture of alcohols and spirits.

In the case of the Primero de Enero factory, it carried out its general test this Wednesday, December 21, with all its machinery and industrial areas ready. Despite the fact that this factory does not have a milling plan, it will give its start-up whistle this weekend to produce volumes of the sweet grain before the end of the year for the basic basket and, incidentally, verify the effectiveness of the collective in these tasks, Larrosa Vázquez explained.

"This Saturday, December 24th, the general test will be carried out at the Ecuador refinery, if it is satisfactory, it will advance its official start during these final days of the year and not for January 5 as initially planned," the director of technical coordination and supervision of the Azcuba Sugar Group in the province said.

The machinery and transportation are ready at more than 85 percent for the beginning of the present sugar contest in the geography of Ciego de Ávila. The arrangements for the rest will depend on resources that will begin to enter the country at the end of this year and beginning of next; however, with that park there are guarantees for the start, he commented.
