The opening of a children's house in the Patria popular council, in the municipality of Morón, contributes to materialize in the province of Ciego de Ávila the government programs of Transformation in Neighborhoods and Communities, Attention to Demographic Dynamics and Advancement of Women.
When leaving that educational institution, called Luces de mi Patria, the governor of Ciego de Ávila, Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, valued the safety, comfort, and availability of means for the teaching-learning and entertainment process of children.
In two classrooms, 13 workers take care of 32 infants, mostly descendants of parents linked to the educational sphere, thus creating facilities for performance in a prioritized sector and stimulating the birth rate by offering new guarantees for the care and education of children, he added.
He pointed out that in these centers, activities similar to kindergartens are carried out and are attended with the same priority, taking into account what the protection and instruction of children represents for a country like Cuba, defender of the rights of children and social justice.
With the new institution, capacities were created for children of working families and the service was brought closer to the community, which before was totally dependent on the capacities and benefits of existing day care centers in the city of Morón, some three kilometers away, he added.
Martín Venegas declared that the premises have been defined to enable, next year, another two children's houses in the rural communities of La Clementina and Jagüeyal, located in the municipalities of Baraguá and Venezuela, respectively.
He stressed that attention to the needs in these rural settlements also pays tribute to the economic and social development strategy, considering that their inhabitants are involved in the progress of agriculture and the production of essential goods and services.
Improving the quality of life will have an impact on the containment of migration to urban areas, which is a necessity, especially in a province like Ciego de Ávila, where agriculture is one of the main economic lines.
Edel Raúl Villanueva Monton, president of the Patria popular council, pointed out that the children's house is also a response to proposals made by community voters, mainly working mothers, and reduces the needs for child care for work reasons.
According to the Demographic Observatory, the province currently has 35 kindergartens, of which three ―located in the municipalities of Florencia, Ciego de Ávila and Venezuela― were repaired during the current year.
The development strategy of the Avilanian territory, until the year 2030, contemplates the construction of a total of nine children's circles, which will be located in the municipalities of Chambas, Bolivia, Primero de Enero, Florencia, Ciego de Ávila, Baraguá and Morón, this The latter with the projection of building three, based on growing local needs.
It is also planned to extend the experience of the children's houses, resumed on June 3, 2021, with the aim of responding to the deficit of day care centers and alleviating the situation that the family faces with the arrival of a little one.
Reina Torres Pérez, member of the Provincial Secretariat of the Federation of Cuban Women recalled that the Program for the Advancement of Women in the province intends to expand the capacities for the care of boys and girls, so as to favor the presence of women in work political, economic and social.
Likewise, he said, care for mothers with three or more children under 17 years of age contemplates offering opportunities to care for their descendants, with the aim that they can join productive work and achieve their economic independence.
