With the transparency and equanimity that distinguish him, and impregnated with confidence in his people to achieve a year 2023 with superior indicators, Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, governor of the province of Ciego de Ávila, examined the stage that concludes.

He referred to the complexity of a period marked by the international crisis, the intensification of the US blockade against Cuba and the increase in subversive actions aimed at destabilizing the Revolution, against which the resistance and altruism of the people of Ciego de Ávila prevailed, as worthy cubans.

He alluded to the systematic checking of compliance with the economic plan and the execution of the budget, attention to the proposals of the voters and the complaints and dissatisfactions of the population, food production, housing policy, and Territorial Development strategies and Environmental.

Priorities prevailed: checking for improvement in the Commerce and Gastronomy sector, Maternal-Child and Energy Care programs, attention to the behavior of arboviral diseases, sugarcane recovery, attention to neighborhoods and communities in vulnerable conditions and confrontation to antisocial manifestations.

He was dissatisfied with the evaluation of the problems that afflict the people, and considers that the investigation of the causes that generate them should be deepened.

He highlighted the permanent links with the population, particularly visits to communities and neighborhoods in disadvantaged situations, including Punta Alegre, Las Palmas, Júcaro, El Vaquerito, Turiguanó, Limones Palmeros, Orlando González and Pesquería.

He appreciated the integration between the provincial and municipal administrations to transform in a progressive way the living conditions of the inhabitants in 69 vulnerable settlements, a goal exceeded by adding attention to another six constituencies and two popular councils in the southern portion of the main municipality.

In this context, 136 proposals from previous mandates and 823 from the current one found a solution, in addition to eradicating 444 problems that were not registered by the delegates.

When addressing issues related to the economy, Martín Venegas was dissatisfied with the business sector, marked by non-compliance and indicators with a tendency to deteriorate, which demands greater demand to transform this panorama, under the protection of the 43 measures approved in the country to energize that sphere.

He pointed out that 44 companies, including 10 of local subordination, failed to comply with the plans set for the year that is ending.

He also stated that 25 entities close with losses, including eight from Agriculture, four from the sugar sector and seven from local subordination.

He recognized the insufficient offers and difficulties with the quality of the services, as well as increases in the prices of sale to the population, which requires further implementation of the price training and control system.

A discreet leap occurred in the increase in exportable items and the insertion of new economic actors in the global market, fundamentally local development projects; and progress is made in the identification of new items, with the purpose of complying with foreign trade plans.

The permanent attention to the sugar harvest made it possible to promote repairs in the industry, preparation of machinery and sugarcane agriculture, actions undertaken with the support of the Party, while recognizing the participation of different sectors in the planting of the grass.

In another order, the Health sector exhibited achievements from the systematic check-ups of the different programs; meanwhile, repairs were carried out in 63 medical offices, admission rooms were conditioned and 30 objects of works were completed in provincial hospitals.

They developed maintenance in maternity and nursing homes, grandparents' houses, rehabilitation rooms and pharmacies, he said.He stressed that renovations were also carried out in 33 educational centers and in the year 2023, the improvements will be completed in another 26.

The last two spheres, he pointed out, have as a challenge the completion of the work forces (teachers, nurses and specialists in some branches of Medicine), as well as the reversal of the behavior of vector-borne diseases and the indicators of the Care Program Maternal-Child.

He added that 2022 was a year to strengthen ties with the Culture sector, from which they managed to transform conditions in cinemas, theaters, houses of culture, art schools, historical sites and the headquarters of this organization.

He appreciated the consolidation of the performance of the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade and the participation of local talents in activities carried out in neighborhoods and communities in vulnerable conditions, where various artistic expressions promoted transformations in behavior and spirituality.

In the sports field, he recalled the constructive actions in facilities destined to the practice of different games; the holding of the 2022 Summer Olympics, the selection of the province as host of the National School Games and the competitive results in basketball and softball.

Bad taste leaves the housing construction plan when only 874 of the 1,736 planned were completed, due to the lack of demand and control in that body, the inadequate use of forces and potential, deficient response from the local production of materials, and deficiencies of fuels and raw materials (cement, steel, aggregates and others).

However, the actions provided for in the Program for Attention to Demographic Dynamics were ensured, by acquiring 101 homes that were delivered to mothers with three or more children under 17 years of age, and eradicating dirt floors in 416 homes.

When referring to the production and marketing of food, he alluded to the progress of Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture, conditioned by the creation of 10 farming houses and more than four thousand patios and plots.

The province closed with 31.9 pounds per capita per inhabitant, with growth in the sales of root vegetables, vegetables, fruits, and grains in the 10 municipalities; meanwhile, there is not enough progress in the delivery of the five kilograms of protein products.

Five agricultural communities contribute to stimulate the incorporation, stability and permanence of the labor forces in the field so that it contributes to the increase in productions, he said.

With firm steps, progress is also being made in the improvement of Commerce, although it is necessary to extend payments through electronic channels, increase self-management purchases, expand messaging services and the quality and variety of offers in all units.

In line with the indications of the country's highest leadership, the confrontation with anti-social manifestations that hinder economic and social development is also being strengthened.

2023 has to be a better year and achieving it requires everyone's collective effort, establishing priorities, defining the purposes to be achieved with the approved budget and working more efficiently in compliance with the proposed plans to channel economic and social development concluded.
