Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, convened in Ciego de Ávila, territory to face the challenges of the New Year with a different way of doing things, with solutions specific to each place, where they begin a group of meetings with the highest authorities of the provinces.

In the exchange, which was attended by Manuel Marrero Cruz and Roberto Morales Ojeda, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, respectively, he commented that with this type of meeting a transformation is sought in the attitude and an understanding of the moment the country is experiencing, of the need to reverse the situation in the shortest possible time and that a lot depends on the way in which the cadres face the tasks in all areas of management.

It is no secret to anyone that the daily life of Cuban men and women in the year 2022 was very tense due to deficiencies, pressures; with great complexity in daily life, especially those caused by Covid, the instability of the national electrical energy system and the blockade, among other causes, including the 243 measures put into practice by the Donald Trump administration and maintained by the current administration President of the United States, Joe Biden.

Despite this, he asserted, there is a feeling of hope; there is a spirit to reverse and transform the situation. «It is up to us to feed hope and optimism so that the difficult economic situation does not jeopardize popular confidence in the revolution.

“It is about all of us giving ourselves up to answering the question of how we are going to reverse, urgently, the reality that we are experiencing. For this, it is necessary to concentrate on what is truly important and combine efforts in the right direction to strengthen and strengthen the certainty around the revolution, to consolidate the idea that socialism is the most viable alternative for the prosperity and development of our country".

He asserted that creativity and resistance suffer when they collide with bureaucracy, laziness and corruption that we have to admit exists in certain intermediate layers and puts obstacles where a solution is really needed.

He said that there is a people that waits for the true potentialities to be unleashed, the productive reserves that provide more incentive and not the ballasts that slow down development; a town that waits for the necessary takeoff of the socialist state company, that agriculture responds to food production.

He called to shake off inertia, banish bureaucratism and complacency. «There is no room for the brake, nor the existence in practice of solutions that are not functional. There has to be greater popular involvement in everything that is done.

“We have to take on the challenge that the crisis that the country is experiencing can be overcome. We have to be aware that it is possible to do it; a crisis that depends on the blockade and the world situation, because we all have the capacity to contribute more to the revolutionary transformation, studying the problems and analyzing the contradictions, comparing, taking into account the criteria of the population and experts, always assuming in each decision an anti-capitalist approach, that the logic of socialist emancipation always prevail.

The Cuban president announced that the party's national conference will take place in October of this year so as not to be static and review what has been done so far and what remains to be done.

In one of his speeches, Morales Ojeda asserted that "we have a great challenge and commitment to our people, to improve well-being and quality of life, and progressively eliminate everything that prevents it: inflation, shortages, quality of services, devaluation monetary, corruption, illegalities”.

Marrero Cruz, for his part, specified that we are living in different times and different things need to be done. «We cannot enter 2023 doing more of the same. You have to set concrete goals, set indicators. And the center of everything here is the municipality.

Ciego de Ávila, as one of the strategic provinces for the country in food production, must expedite the delivery of land to producers and more than 30 territorial organizations, in a position to assume a large amount of the more than 26,000 hectares idle to give the productive response that the territory and the country need in the production of food.

Faced with this reality, Liván Izquierdo Alonso, a member of the Central Committee of the Party and its first secretary in Ciego de Ávila, told the country's highest leadership that between next February and March the organizations of the territory will have their corresponding hectares of land available.
