With the beginning of the year 2023, it could be said that the Provincial General Teaching Hospital Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola closes a construction cycle, which has restored comfort and a renewed image to several of its services, as part of a political movement that has joined companies and organizations of the territory in the "sponsorship" of the work.

Now, the rooms of Gastroenterology, Pediatric Surgery, Gynecology, Cardiology and the Information Center were the new work objects reopened, with the presence of the highest authorities of the province, headed by Liván Izquierdo Alonso, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Ciego de Ávila, and Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas.

Alberto Moronta Enrique, director of this care center, explained that the actions carried out have been comprehensive and included the renovation of walls and false ceilings, repairs to hydraulic and sanitary networks, veneering of plateaus, lighting, painting, air conditioning and changing furniture. 

“Raising the quality of medical care, patient satisfaction and improving Health indicators goes through the filter of the constructive and material conditions of the rooms and services. Today's cutting of the ribbon signifies the closure of a work cycle and raises expectations for the current year in which the work will continue," the doctor said.

Vital spaces such as colonoscopy, endoscopy and laparoscopy rooms; the Pediatric Surgery training room; the medical rest room in Cardiology and the room for pacemaker implantation, for which the commitment continues, are concrete samples of the advances and the whirlwind that has imbued this institution in recent months.

On this occasion, the responsibility for the completion fell on the shoulders of the Hydraulic Exploitation, Construction Materials and Supply and Health Services companies, as well as the Ministry of Construction and the Mypime of RTV Comercial, which they were recognized with the Ciego de Ávila Heartbeat distinction, a symbol of the political movement that today surrounds the transformation of the province.

Undoubtedly, a dream of the people of Ciego de Avila has been to have an Information Center in optimal conditions and to the collective joy, the wait was crowned with a functional and beautiful site, in which more than 10 million pesos were invested by brigades belonging to to the Ministry of Construction.

Its structure includes two waiting rooms, a cafeteria with various options to which only those who are on the premises will have access, a room for the medical interview (in which the reports will be given privately) and two offices, one where the information center and another for attention to the population.

In 2022 there were 56 work objects started at the Antonio Luaces Iraola, of which 22 were finished. The plans contemplate growing with 34 this year until completing the 70 planned for repair and maintenance actions in that health center.
