The need to accelerate the cutting of cane in the productive bases that pay taxes to the Ciro Redondo factory is an imperative with a view to increase the use of the potential norm of the modern industry, in addition to contribute to the process of the sugar harvest for being a faster and more efficient task.

This was one of the main issues analyzed during a review meeting chaired by Liván Izquierdo Alonso, a member of the Party's Central Committee and its first secretary in the province, and Lieutenant Governor Ania Rosa Francisco Malde, in which representatives of cooperatives, directors of the Ciro Redondo Agro-industrial Sugar Company (EAA) and entities of the Azcuba sugar group in the territory that ensure the complex productive activity.

During the meeting, it was learned that, until mid-week, 15 percent of the planned total had been cut in Pina, while on those of the EAA Enrique Varona (the factory paralyzed due to the decrease in sugarcane, and now linked to the Colossus of Center) was 11 percent, figures that give a gap of 4 points.

"We are giving the plant 70 percent of its potential standard, when we should give it the maximum," Izquierdo Alonso said, aware that the greater the amounts of daily raw material that reach the tipper, the sooner the nearly 3,000 tons will be cut ( t) physical sugar owed to the plan to date.

Getting up after great falls, overcoming difficulties, diversifying, growing, contracting, aspiring to more, winning: they are words sewn by hand and tailored to the sugar sector in Cuba. There is a history of struggle that, like the reeds, is sometimes sweet and sometimes not so much.

Despite the objective difficulties that hinder a better performance on the cutting and shooting fronts, such as breakages and a shortage of spare parts, which must be solved in the next few days, there is still a need to gain more in the use of available resources from the organizational and search for other strategies.

There are many reservations in this regard. For example, it emerged that squads of highly productive Case combines in Enrique Varona areas do not cut 24 hours a day as established. Elements that must be reversed, since that company since December 22 has only cut 29,000 t, which is too slow.

The highest authorities of the province assume the periodic check of the main efficiency indicators as part of their work system.

The nearby bioelectric plant ensures the stability of the ground. According to its director, Ariel Díaz Román, it currently consumes a little more than 65 percent of bagasse, from a mixture of biomass that is completed with marabou. The available coverage of this last source of green fuel offers 40 to 45 days, at an average daily rate of 600 t.

He added that six of the 11 marabou harvesting machines are available to continue the process of accumulating volumes of the invasive plant.

In the appointment, what was related to the sowing of the sweet grass was also analyzed; the cultural attentions to the plantations, in which progress is being made in the preparation of soils and greater speed is required in manual cleaning; in addition to the interiors that avoid achieving a greater collection of milk.
