Acid test for controlled marketing in Ciego de Ávila

Even though it is a very short time to make an analysis, a week after the entry into force of a new modality of distribution of basic necessities in national currency, the authorities of Ciego de Ávila took the pulse of this highly sensitive issue for the population.

In the work meeting chaired by Governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, and in which representatives of the Cimex and Caribe store chains participated, it was evidenced that the experience did not pass uniformly in all the places where until now one has been commercialized of the listed products (chicken, oil, detergent, sausage and mincemeat).

Yadiel Pérez Téllez, coordinator of Agri-Food Programs and Objectives in the Provincial Government, said that a tour of the points of sale showed that some administrations were better prepared than others, which is why in several locations there were long lines, disorder and unapproved decisions by the top management of the province.

The requirement to carry the identity card of a member of the nucleus at the time of purchase, which is a violation of the original design, in addition to the limitation on the number of supply books allowed for accredited couriers were pointed out.

Obviously, there were communication errors that hindered the normal development of the process, the representatives of the store chains agreed, and it was emphasized that the direct relationship between the Commerce structures and the points of sale is essential to better organize the flow of people.

It was insisted that marketing in places with refrigeration lasts for 72 hours, but in practice all consumers with the right to buy want to do so the first day, given the scarcity and the uncertainty of whether it will be enough. In this sense, the chains confirmed that the exact amount is being placed at each point according to the nuclei.

However, the governor indicated greater effectiveness in the process and not cite all consumers at the same time, but in a staggered manner.

Likewise, Martín Venegas ordered a specific fuel allocation for municipal administrations to ensure the transfer of products to those communities far from the points of sale. In these cases, the sale is made taking advantage of the Commerce structures in those settlements, always with the presence of Cimex or Caribe Stores employees.

The other "red" point of this distribution modality, and which has generated many questions among the people of Ciego de Avila, is that of the nuclei not registered in the Consumer Registry, and those registered after the census of December 27. For these cases, what was said in the previous note is ratified: each municipal government is responsible for carrying out an inventory of these cases and certifying their inclusion in the lists held by the chain stores.
