Annual balance of the sport of Ciego de Ávila looks at its problems

The Balance Assembly of the Provincial Sports Directorate was not a meeting to worship praise and applause. The achievements of 2022 were not ignored, but going to the causes of the tasks that were not fulfilled and how to solve, mitigate and prevailed them, even when the resources are not, in most cases, within reach.

This is what Leonardo Rodríguez Sánchez, top sports leader in Ciego de Ávila, called for in the introduction to the debates, who urged not to settle for the confirmation that this period was superior in results to the previous one, since there are still many potentialities to be exploited.

One of the dissatisfactions was the contribution of 14 athletes to the high performance centers which, although it is higher than in 2021, it is evident that the sports movement, especially in its collective disciplines, is in a position to attract a greater number of talents for national teams.

It was significant that 50 percent of the enrollment of the EIDE Marina Samuell Noble are student-athletes from the provincial capital, something that aroused "suspicions" that the recruitment work in the other towns of the territory has not been the best.

It also became clear that the municipal sports departments must internalize that these athletes will be the possible champions and they cannot wait for the first medals to appear to worry about academic and sports results.

There are examples that confirm that it is feasible to achieve better results without adding large resources, such as the cases of compliance with the competitive system My champion school, the FEEM Cup and the Educa a tu hijo program, and the curricular adaptations of the Physical Education programs.

With regard to not having the necessary technical force in all the municipalities, Yuslaivys Borges González, a member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party, said that, although it is true that it also appears in other sectors, the solution would never be to sit back and wait a divine solution.

It is not a matter of turning your back on this and other problems, but rather, when you see them, you face them with energy and creativity. The partisan leader recalled that, in not a few tasks, the workers in this sphere have shown signs in recent years of being a troop that is not discouraged by difficulties.

The annual meeting was conducive to recognizing the best workers of the year. The closing of the conclave was a fragment of the speech, on January 5, by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, on a meeting with cadres of the province.
